How do you move beyond the feeling of being “stuck” when it comes to talking about race? What does a person need in order to feel seen or understood? How do we both invite and keep people in their seat at the table? In our Real Talk program, we come together in conversation to create safe, effective spaces to have a dialogue about race and build relationships in the process.  Real Talk developed after the CUC spent over years in conversation together about how to create safe, effective spaces to have dialogue about race and build relationships in the process.

Real Talk developed after the Center for Understanding in Conflict spent years in conversation together about how to create safe, effective spaces to have dialogue about race and build relationships in the process.

Since its formation, Real Talk has offered trainings that include reflective activities, really hard conversations, and a shared drive to get to the other side of being uncomfortable with what we don’t know. We come together in conversation to create safe, effective spaces to have a dialogue about race and build relationships in the process. During this webinar, members of our Real Talk team provide context on how and why we initiated these reflective, challenging conversations. We also explore our challenges and struggles, as well as what has worked well.

Outcomes:

  • You will understand why it’s difficult to talk about race.
  • You will better understand how Real Talk can enhance your conflict management and mediation techniques.
  • You will have information about starting Real Talk conversations in your own communities.
