Gary Friedman will teach a two day program at Heidelberg Institute of Mediation on the ways for conflict professionals to access their inner lives while working with clients in conflict that are constructive for the professionals and productive for our clients.  We will learn together about connecting with our deeper impulses that fuel our commitment to working with people in conflict – such as compassion and the search for greater self-understanding and mutual understanding.

We also learn about dealing with the barriers to that understanding, such as judgment, anger and the desire for control, and how to recognize and work with those barriers to bring us closer to ourselves and our clients.  The program includes a number of ways of sensitizing ourselves to our inner lives and relationship to people in conflict, including a meditative perspective, journaling, and regular meetings with peers.
